It hadn’t occurred to me before that Mythology and Folklore, is essentially rumour...

When reading up on Francis Alys, he talks about starting rumours in connection to a piece created in Mexico and when discussing the fox in the national portrait gallery piece

Francis Alys: The same rules apply - if a rumour hits a certain place at a certain moment of its history, if it manages to materilise a fear or corresponds to an expectation, then it can grow. It circulates if it hits a nerve.

a good rumour evolves and takes on a life of its own.

On top of a cliff in Lulworth, Dorset; I found a white feather on the grass with a telephone number printed on it.

We took it home and we called the number.. I think it was in Birmingham, when a woman picked up the phone and I explained the story of the feather; she very quickly said that she knew nothing about it and hung up. Which with my marvellous detective brain I took to mean quite the opposite, otherwise she would have definately sounded shocked and asked a few more questions about how her phone number was on a feather in the south west.

So I’ve never solved this mystery... and I expect I never will.

But I’d like to make a rumour and put it somewhere and see if it grows and mutates..

But in a way thats more beautiful and cleverer than n urban myth...

I'm recording the entropy of the hut here

I've rebuilt my shack at the bottom of my garden,
in a collection of trees (not quite a wood).
The hut will hopefully be grown into... Branches through
the gaps in the roof, grass through the carpet and the floor...
and depending on how long it survives, to eventually reach a
state of entropy, where it has been claimed by the wood.

some pictures of my final piece from Wimbledon Foundation... a little wooden one room house based on an abandoned home I found in the Isle of Lewis.
- it doesn't make a huge amount of sense in pictures, but the main themes around the project was to create an experiential piece for the audience, based around the idea that an abandoned house is like the detritus of a performance.

and influenced by trying to trying to understand the phenomenology of space, interests in utilitarian and fleeting architecture, and they way we translate and interpret spaces.

- i gathered the patchwork of materials by trawling front gardens and charming builders in tooting and wimbledon, pushing them to college on a an old newspaper trolley and built it in the studio onto building palettes

I made a set of drawings for my sister's new flat... they are line drawings from Scottish Islands.

I have the summer ahead of me and a year of foundation behind, so i may try and document the things I have done and am doing on here over the summer...
So far I only have a list; it includes.. making a dolls house, a triptych of drawings for my sisters new house, a Brighton Carnival and the re-installation of my final piece at foundation.

I spent an almost perfect morning at the Sunday Morning Market ...
filtering through dusty suitcases and boxes of all things sparkling and
alluring - someone elses tat, i suppose.
Entertained and tutored by my good friend and market afficionado
miss. eleanor. Who seems to have perfected the knack of recieving items
for free - quite a skill based on market traders wot i have met...
tho perhaps this is as she favours the kind of wares you would
have to pay someone to take - I began my venture in this by
finding myself a marvellous broken record -
entitled Cigareets, Whuskey and Wild Wild Women.
Although the highlight of my morning was filling my pockets
with a grand selection of admirable broaches.. for every opportunity.
